Business Casual

Today my friend Pat and I went out to Savers to see what kinds of great finds we could score! And boy did we score big! First we found a great pair of brown and black pinstripe pants that we knew we had to base our outfit around. The pants are great because not only are they flattering by adding the illusion of length, they also have a sense of business casual with a vintage twist. We then found a simple black shirt that was polyester and cotton blend to add to a more business savvy feel. We love this look because after you're done at work, there's no need to change before you go out and play. ;)

Pinstripe Pants     $3.99
Black Shirt          $2.99
Total                    $6.98

Pat's shoes were also a great find! We got them at Last Chance, which is a company owned by Nordstrom. Last Chance is located at the Camelback Colonade at 18th Street and Camelback at 1919 East Camelback Road. Tom's Shoes normally retail for about $44-$68 a pair depending on what kind of design you choose. The pair we found for Pat were the Ash Canvas Men's classic. We were able to get this pair for $30 instead of $44!

Outfit         $6.98
Tom's         $30.00
Total          $36.98 before tax!

Savers

Today we journeyed out to Savers out in Glendale! Savers is at 27th Avenue and Bethany Home. If you've never been to Savers before, it is filled with home goods, clothing and accessories and even some household electronics if you're lucky. We found some really great looks at Savers that I can't wait to share with you!

We found this long tribal skirt, which on our petite model, made for a great dress! We added the belt to accessorize and show off Kitti's great figure! It adds interest to the outfit, without overpowering it. We also did a variation of this look by adding a super cute crochet vest! Let's see how much this look cost us!

                 Tribal dress/skirt     $4.99
                 Belt                         $2.99
                 Vest                        $4.99
                 Grand total             $12.97 before tax

Value Village

A few days ago, some friends and I took our thrifting over to the westside! Our journey started at Value Village which is located at 5346 W. Glendale Avenue. After doing some looking around, here's one of the outfits we thought were too cute! First we found this black leotard with lace detail, which is a great basic piece! To go along with the leotard, we discovered a great red high waisted skirt to add some color. Then we added a faux pearl necklace and a studded red cuff bracelet to accessorize. We also found an awesome fur coat to add to this look (just for fun ;)). I think this is a timeless look that has both a chic and sophisticated look. Now let's take a look and see how much this outfit cost us!

Leotard    $2.49
Skirt         $2.49
Necklace  $1.99
Bracelet    $2.49
Total        $9.46 before tax

Wow! What a great looking outfit for under $10! But that's not all! Tuesday's everything is 25% off! Luckily we were shopping on a tuesday!

I've had such a good response from everyone about my blog and I can't thank you all enough! Today's look we found at a shop called Blueberry Deluxe, located at 702 W. Montecito Dr in Phoenix. The shop is filled with great finds, both old and new, and many of the items are made my artists all around the valley! We found this really cute dress with simple details. The top of the dress was silver and black striped with a simple black bottom. The dress has a modern sophisticate vibe to it, but the peplum skirt gives it a vintage feel.

To jazz up this already exceptional dress, we found a red vintage belt to give this outfit a pop of color! We also found some really cute black and white heels that complimented it perfectly!

Dress    $32
Belt      $12
Shoes   $38
Total    $82 before tax

Don't forget that to come in and get your hair done to match these great outfits! I work at JC Penney at Paradise Valley Mall. Also mention my blog and get 20% off. Now you're really a savvy shopper!

New Beginnings!

Today I'm going to be launching a new part of my blog! As you know I'm a hairstylist currently working at the JC Penney salon inside Paradise Valley Mall. Aside from being a hairdresser, I pride myself in being a great bargain shopper. I'd like to use my expertise to teach some of you out there new ways to dress or accessorize. I really enjoy getting a good deal and I love going to vintage and thrift stores all around the valley and I'd like to pass along my findings to you all! Stick with me while I get it up and running, but it's something new that I really think you'll get a kick out of and maybe inspire you to do something different!

Today I went with my friend Kitti, who you may remember from one of my other posts, shopping at some really cool vintage stores in the Melrose district in Phoenix. The first store we went to was a really cool store called Retro Ranch. It is located at 4304 N. 7th Ave.

Retro Ranch is filled with all sorts of vintage finds including clothes, books, furniture and accessories. It's hard to not fall in love with something almost immediately after walking in. After some looking around, we managed to find some really cool outfits that I think you'll enjoy!

This first outfit we put together is perfect for spring! We first found a plain white camisole with a little bit of detailing on it, which inspired the outfit. Then we found some really cool loose shorts with floral details all over. Perfect for that Arizona heat! Then paired those with a brown leather belt with some enlarged features and some white shoes with a little bit of detailing! Oh baby! We loved this look!

Keeping in mind we were shopping on a budget, let's take a look at how much this cute little number cost us!
White Cami     $12.95
Floral Shorts    $14.95
Brown Belt      $14.99
Shoes               $39
Total                $81.89 before tax

Obviously the shoes were the most expensive piece to this outfit. I know that I have some shoes at home that would have already matched this, but for those of you that may not we gave you the option to choose for yourself! Without the shoes our outfit total is $42.89 before tax! That's a smoking deal! Less than $50 for an outfit, talk about looking chic on a budget! We had also found a small leather purse that matched that is an option for accessorizing with as well for $16.95! All together including the purse that brings the total for this outfit to $98.84 before tax!

We had so much fun putting together this outfit and finding good deals. There will definitely be more style posts to come in the near future! Let us know what you think!

I was thinking some more about what Howard McLaren said. Here's a quote that I had forgotten about!
"A good haircut done on the wrong person is still a bad haircut"

inspiration.

Inspiration is a funny thing. It can be found anywhere, yet it can often be hard to find. Due to my recent lack of inspiration, my friends and I decided to do a photo shoot. I used my friend Kitti as a model because she has long, beautiful hair and is gorgeous. I didn't really do anything too crazy, just a curling iron set, but with all of Kitti's hair they turned out just perfectly. Howard made me realize that even though I was great at this style, I was too afraid to truly breakdown and brush the curls. This hair intimidation has got me tackling the problem head on with none other than another photo shoot. I will post more of the photos from our first attempt.
